Discover Our Educational Journey
At Holding History, I am on a mission to make learning an unforgettable adventure. Our specialism is history and our method is to give students exposure to historic objects to help build their interest in history.
What Are My Services?
I visit schools and educational facilities around the country offering seminars to students. On our journey, I bring along a number of incredibly historic objects and give students the opportunity to research these antiques and present their research to the class in an engaging and fun way. Keen to make our sessions as relevant to the curriculum as possible, our antiques are tailored to what students are studying to improve their existing knowledge.
What Periods Do I Cover?
I have a large inventory of objects ranging from items of every day life to objects of national significance from around the world. Some examples include; uniforms named to Victoria Cross recipients, full plate armour, dinning plates from George IV's coronation, rings discovered near the Battle of Bosworth Field to everyday items such as Georgian mouse traps and pewter spoons. Some study area examples are:
- Roman Britain,
- Life, healthcare and disease in the Medieval Ages,
- Religion in Tudor Times,
- Crime and Punishment in 17th Century England,
- The Slave Trade,
- Life In Victorian Britain,
- Russian Revolution,
- World War One,
- World War Two,
- The Cold War.
If your organisation is studying a period that is not in the aforementioned list, please reach out to me.
Why You Should Choose Me?
Thousands of children across the country miss out on key skills because the educational system is not tailored to practically minded students. In contrast to teaching children about historic events through books, our goal is to help children visualise history by giving them the chance to hold these items.
Sadly a cost of living crisis means both parents and schools often lack the funds or time to organise visits to museums. By bringing history to the schools, I can give our students a better and more personal experience of history which is both time effective and relevant to what they are learning.
Who Am I?
Holding History sessions are hosted by BBC One 'The Apprentice' Star and informally known as the 'cannon guy,' Gregory Ebbs. From a young age, Gregory has collected a vast array of historic and incredible objects from across the world. Keen to replicate his childhood experiences and build a new generation of students who have an interest in history, Gregory came up with the idea of Holding History to make history practical and the learning engaging.
